Sorry for the long delay.
I’ll be uploading the photos from my HUD retrofit in my V90 T8 MY18.
Initially, I had the standard windscreen (non-heated), so when I installed the HUD, the display appeared blurry and duplicated—almost as if you had poor eyesight and needed glasses. Due to other circumstances, my windscreen needed to be replaced anyway, so I went ahead and got a brand new OEM HUD-compatible windscreen.
The quality of the HUD display improved dramatically—more than I expected, even though I had previously driven a car with a HUD.
To say the least, you will definitely notice the difference between a non-HUD windscreen and one designed for HUD use. I’ve seen photos of a Russian guy retrofitting HUD into his XC90 with a heated windscreen, and the display didn’t look as blurry or duplicated as mine did on the OEM windscreen, so I can’t say for sure how it would look with a heated windscreen.
You can see my "before and after" photos showing how the quality changed, and how much the duplication issue improved. The difference is clear when compared to the pictures vs. reality.
Here are some pictures from the installation.
