De-japanify my Volvo

Fixing the annoying gps bug with carplay would be nice..being able to load EU maps would be awesome..

I'm encouraged to hear that there is still some investigating going on to convert Japan region cars, but in the meantime a workaround for the gps bug for carplay is the Android AI boxes that offer wireless carplay. Those units that run full Android tend to come with their own GPS modules, and this does sidestep the cars faulty/buggy/japanese locked GPS unit.

You do have to wait for the android unit to boot, then automatically opening the carplay app and connecting to your phone, but because the Volvo head unit turns on when you open the car door - it is nearly always on and connected by the time you start driving. (You can skip it connecting to your phone for quicker startup if you are happy with Android - some units have SIM card slots for data access, or you can use totally offline maps)

I'd still prefer inbuilt navigation - as it would appear on the driver screen, not just the centre screen, but at about $200NZD it was a relatively cheap fix.
