It looks like it is different for models and year.
I retrofitted bendy lights to my s60 2019. Replaced both headlights (full led) and two used HCM (labeled H for bendy lights). Andrew provided me the software for both sides and flashed with Orbit.
Then, I restored all the config to OEM and connected the car to VIDA with the retrofitted used headlights and HCM modules. VIDA had detected the retrofitted HCMs and had forced me to do reload before letting me to perform total upgrade on June 2024.
I purchased HCM reload from VIDA and it did flashed both used HCMs on my car, Then I could perform the total upgrade.
However, I had to reflash both headlights afterwards with Orbit. Because after VIDA HCM reload headlights did not work properly.
During the VIDA software reload I did not reload them one side at a time which would require to purchase reload software two times. (one for each side)
There are 5 options when reloading HCMs via VIDA and I had chosen 5 to save money.
1) Headlight Left replacement
2) Headlight Left replacement with controller
3) Headlight right replacement
4) Headlight right replacement with controller
5) Only HCMs (Left and right)
Options 1 to 4 requires additional information (headlight assembly production date and HEX numbers on the sticker) to be entered during reload process.
Option 5 is just straight forward without any headlight assembly info).
Now, I do not know why R1maS could not reload the used module with VIDA. But there are two possibilities.
1) Faulty used ECU
2) Used ECU part number does match to the VIN's part catalog.
One thing is very important when using used parts with volvo.
The used part number itself must be listed as "FIT" to VIN. or the used part number must be Supersession(s) of the new part number that fits to the VIN.
Example: Used HCM part number is 31427776 (labeled High) and original one was 31427787 (labeled MID). Both parts are in the parts catalog for my VIN.
