I've done this but have not tapped to CANBUS for fan controller activation as I found it not really necessary. Even if you tap it into CANBUS it makes no difference for Volvo configuration as Webasto gateway disconnects Volvo's air-conditioning unit from car CANBUS when heating.
It is a different story if Webasto was installed from factory.
