Chassis type

We do know what these mean. In Volvo land, it's the suspension "spec" of the vehicle. Like for example I had an S60 with sport chassis option, the S60 without that  has "Dynamic Chassis"  config, and mine was set to "Sport Chassis Low". It's not always clear...which modules use that config information in the vehicle. Interestingly it seems you've found perhaps the PSCM (power steering module) does use the chassis type to set itself up.

Not having any evidence, but just based on my feeling about it, I would doubt the chassis type would have any affect on engine controls and hence fuel economy. I have wondered if the ESC, ABS and other dynamics systems are adjusted for the chassis type.
