Interior illumination
#1
Hi

I'm about to retrofit interior illumination package. Currently i ove 03 interior ligtning mid version. I have footwells light and a tiny bulb in my rearview mirror. I purchased wood trim decors dor my doors, suprisingly they arrived with illumination strips, but no cable. I have an power outlet behind my decors. Does anyone know which connector/cable needs to be purchased in order to connect them?
Did anyone try to upgrade interior illumination and can tell what is the difference b/w 183 - 02 and 183 - 81. Besides door decors, are there any other sources of light when upgrading from interior lightning mid version to high version.
Greatfull for any inputs Smile

Yes it ended up costing a bit more. As I do with these things I ended up waiting for a sale on Volvo parts and grab the door panel harnesses. I couldn't just do the front doors hehe, I needed the lighting in the rear doors too. I am very happy with the results. Some things can be gotten used, the little lamp modules are common Volvo parts (the door pocket lamp and the puddle/footwell lamp style) sometimes cheap used if shipping doesn't kill it. I also pickeded up the rear reading light modules (w/ambient lighting) used.

I do have the cupholder lamp unit as well to complete the whole thing, never installed it, just lazy to take the console apart to do that ;-)

I have an S60 though, it is possible that other models may not have the "build harness" type on the interior door panels, they could have the plugs for the extra lighting present on the "mid" lighting cars.

So if i understand you correctly, if i've been stupid enough to buy lots of harnesses to retrofit keyless entry, i should be able to sneak this retrofit into the doors also in the same go?
Is this retrofit solely done in the door or does it need to be pinned out to the pillar / CEM?

Nice to meet you here again. The wiring for the lights in the door trim is only done in the door. No cables need to be laid in the vehicle. Everything between the door control unit and the lamps. Also for the lamps in the outer door handles, which you should have due to the keyless retrofit Wink
If you have identified cable colors or cables, it would be super nice if you could document this for those who still have to do this (I mean me Big Grin )

FYI I retrofitted the memory seat (right front), I needed   31483794  (door panel harness) but it's in back order and no one at the dealers knows when it will be available.
I ended up buying the switch connector and wiring it myself.
So, it's very possible that you won't be able find the harnesses costs around $50 each. In addition, you will need the lights too.
My suggestion for you, buy the whole panels from eBay or junk yard. They all come with the lights and the harnesses. You can find a decent set.
Good luck.

Got my harnesses now.. and even though 2 of them are of a v60 with polestar and high illu they are identical to the 3rd rear harness i bought to harvest handle+antenna connector from. I guess there is a second harness that needs to be connected? but i have not seen it on swedish scrapyards atleast.. and i also just started feeling after where the interior lights should be on my car.. and it's all just holes with not even a cover  Huh

So there are 2 harnesses. one in the door, and one on the door card. I have now ordered an interior from a polestar s60. So when i get those i can photograph the door cards harness Smile
