Has anyone managed to run the application in a car imported from the USA? Is it possible to change the car's region at all?

If it's a 2023 Volvo with Android Automotive OS (AAOS):

You cannot convert a US-spec AAOS Volvo into a true EU-spec vehicle using Orbit alone.
The reason is that many vehicle settings are no longer stored only in the car. The market specification depends on:

* the VIN,
* Volvo's backend configuration,
* security certificates,
* regional vehicle configuration.

Orbit can modify many "local configuration parameters", but it "cannot change the vehicle's market identity from US to EU".

What Orbit can typically do

Depending on the model and software version, Orbit can change:

* Units (km/h, °C)
* Some lighting configurations
* Comfort features
* Certain vehicle configuration (CCD) parameters
* Enable/disable features that are already supported by the installed hardware

If your goal is European registration
In most cases you'll also need:

* EU-compliant headlights
* A rear fog light
* Any other hardware required by local regulations
* Inspection and homologation according to your country's rules
