Retrofitting XC60 Heated/Ventilated/Massage Seats Into an XC40?
#1
Question
Hi!

I have a Volvo XC40 R-Design 1.5 Plug-in Hybrid 2020, but the front seats don’t have heating, ventilation, or massage functions. I’ve noticed that no XC40 model seems to offer these features — only the XC60 does.

My question is: Would it be possible to install XC60 seats in an XC40?

Has anyone tried this retrofit or knows if the wiring/modules are compatible?

Thanks in advance!

First, you should explore your cem to see if massage or ventilation is present and can be activated. If not, there is no way to add it to the cem. Then you should measure the mounting points of the rails to see if they fit physically and measure if you can get the seats in. And last, you probably have to rewire A LOT!

Heating and ventilation both are controlled by the same LIN (SLAVE) module connected to the CCM (climate control). It has nothing to do with CEM.
Massage seats are controlled by the seat comfort module integrated inside the seat controller (CAN) module. It has nothing to do with CEM either.

In both cases CEM holds and sends the configuration settings to both CCM and Seat Controller through CAN bus message.
If the XC60 seats fits to XC40, I do not know. You'll need to measure them. If it fits, you will need to do some wiring.
