DIY CEM (and VGM) PIN Retrieval for Volvo and Polestar
#61
Hi all!

So, for an AAOS based car (iCUP) such as a Volvo V60 T6 Recharge MY2024, do I just need the VGM PIN, or is the CEM PIN also required?

You need VGM and CEM. 2 pin codes.

  • In VIDA order a "configuration test" for your car (this is cheap, just $0.01!)
What kind of subscription should I have to be able to order this test?
Obviously, looking for the cheapest option for 3 days. Thank you.

When you configure the VIDA subscription, you need to add everything except "book time" (or "technician time", i forget exactly what it says there). That will get you the VIDA subscription that is able to install software on the car.

Thanks for this, good to know.
However please excuse my ignorance, but I don’t quite understand your statement.  Are you talking about Polestar cars, Volvo cars with full Polestar builds, or Volvo cars with Polstar as add-ons only.
I have a 2020 XC60 Inscription that also has the Polstar add-on (software only) enabled OEM.  Would I be requesting a regular Volvo CEM key service of a Polstar CEM key service?
Thanks in advance.

He means the polestar brand.

Polestar optimization is not an issue and with your 2020 you can get the PIN no worries.

Is it possible to purchase just the CEM and VGM pin for Volvo C40 2022 without purchasing an annual subscription for Orbit?

Just provide the VIN to the administrator and they can do it.

Hello, please help. I can't pass the test and install updates, it requires a connection to a charger, but the car is already on charge, how can I get around this? And the second question, I bought a configuration test, but when the message lit up that I needed to connect the car to the charger, I pressed cancel, because I decided that I could continue after connecting the car to the network, but the test was canceled and now offers to buy it again.

I had the same issue with another software "market certificate for IHU" download.  With the latest update of the VIDA, it's not related to fully charged or not. It's about the supplied voltage. I even connected external battery retainer / charger but it still refused to install.
I ended up installing the software while engine is actually running. Yes, you can do that at least most of the software reloads. It will shut down the engine at the end and finalize the installation.  The important part is that during that finalization period while engine is not running, your battery should be at least %70 full.

So, you can install the configuration change while the engine is running or you will need external battery charger that supplies 13.5v or more.
The configuration test does not cost money, it's only 1 cent. $0.01. In my case, I had to ask for refund for the first failed one and re-purchase it second time. Refund process was very quick though, I got refund on my card less than 24 hours I claimed it.

If it happens next time, DO NOT cancel the process. Just turn on the engine and click on retry or continue. It will give you warning "Do not drive the car" because it will stop the engine as I mentioned above.
