VCM-U105000 - Backup battery lifetime exceeded
#11
I checked my battery voltage last night using Orbit, and it was 8055mV.
Even though the battery is fine, I will still replace it because I consider this to be a safety component of significant importance, and Li Ion batteries can degrade over 8 years, and it would be a bummer if my car couldn't dial Volvo SOS in an unfortunate event of meeting with an accident because that battery died. All for skimping on an equivalent of a dinner for two. That's just my personal preference.

Once I replace it, I will order the SP through VIDA. Let me know how to capture the vbf etc., and I can share the files over cloud if helpful.

Edit: attachment with battery voltage readout using Orbit

There is no actual "software" for the VCM battery life reset. In the install, a service procedure is run to reset the battery life, which is a simple hard coded value that triggers the message and code at, 96 months I believe. The reset of the battery life does not care about the status of the battery at all. But if the battery is truly bad, low voltage or short circuit, you will get codes for that failure from the VCM no matter the remaining lifetime of the backup battery.

OrBit has this procedure, the problem is that it requires a PIN for the VCM to get access to run it. VIDA of course has all the access it needs so it's simple to just order and run the software. It's not simple for OrBit. There are some cases OrBit is useful, so I added the procedure on request. For most, just get it reset by a dealer/with VIDA is probably the best bet.

I do have a new battery, I want to install it, but I'm not happy to goto the dealer for the procedure. Can you help me with OrBit for this?
