Hi All.
Does anyone know what the oil level on the OrBit screen should be?
Finding conflicting information online. Mine is showing 44mm.
Would be great to know what the Minimum and Maximum are in MM.
Only got hooked up to OrBit yesterday and it is great. Enjoying my Polestar Optimised gear changes today.
All the Best

Yeah, I am wondering too hehe. I wanted to have more "intelligence" on the read out, but there isn't any! But I figured maybe we can learn something if we all at least can see what the oil level is, so it's there in OrBit ;-)
Some people I know have tried a little testing with this...by noting the oil level, and what happens when you add a little oil at a time. The result seems to be that we know the oil level going down would be a problem, a code might be set or you will get an "oil level low" message. But also it was found that *adding* oil will also cause some "message", I don't know what it is, just heard it second hand.
So far it seems what is "good" oil level may be something that is set when the oil is changed, I know there is a procedure at least the dealer techs follow for this. Somewhere in that process, the "good level" is set, then going forward, the car is monitoring the oil level for any changes, whether that is "lower" or "higher". I guess in that way it can monitor not only for oil loss, but also for things that might make the level rise, perhaps a blown head gasket letting coolant into the crankcase, or massive blow-by of a bad piston ring sending unburnt fuel into the crank case.
For now the readout in OrBit is just informational. The coming update version of OrBit has data reading added for thousands of data fields from the ECUs, which perhaps may enable us to find what data is stored in the connected car, that we could read, that may indicate what it's current "good" or "bad" oil levels should be...

This is what I found online but would love to get some verification on it.
Engine oil level (mm)
The value regards the current oil level. The signal comes from the directly connected engine oil level sensor which provides information about the oil level in the engine's oil pan. Measurement range: 0 – 65 mm. Normal value: 27 - 49 mm, which corresponds to a total oil volume of 4.4 - 5.2 litres (+ 0.4 litre in the filter).

I think that's correct. What I think the car does is, when oil is changed, the tech fills, verifies and then "sets" the oil level, or the resetting of the service interval does that last part. So the car is watching not only the level to be normal, but also monitoring for any significant increase or decrease from the level the oil was at when it was last filled, i.e. it's monitoring for oil loss or contamination.
If your oil level was last filled to 48mm and now it's 38mm that may trigger a message, even though it's within the "normal" range the loss of that oil is not normal. I don't know if there is...but finding the data field of that "stored" oil fill level would be nice and give us some basis of checking the status ourselves.
