Only works for Polestar 2 (and probably 4)

There is additional hardware required to support ultra-wide band (UWB) communication which only the Polestar has.

I have discovered...the modules are "PAKM" there is one front and one rear I believe, behind the bumpers. I think it could possibly be integrated into the car...but there is also probably a road block, the phone is paired through the Polestar App, so probably something where you are already signed in and associated with the car. May be heavy lifting to duplicate that process of pairing the phone when you got a Volvo.

Pairing phone as a key actually associates Polestar app with the car, you can't, to my knowledge, can use polestar app without pairing your phone as a key.

So you're right, replicating that process would be mammoth job and most likely you would have to run an app on the phone too.
