Will it work with Sensus?
#1
Hello,
I just want to open some discussion here about some Safety configuration Items that looks interesting and I'm not sure if they would work with Sensus or with our Vehicles I believe MY18-MY21
I'm planning to test those settings soon but I want to see if someone already tested them did they work? what was the outcome? or If someone have an Idea about them in general.
some of them looks interesting and pretty cool if they would work (from my pov ofc).

208 DRIVER DISTRACTION PROTECTION
Is this for the Pilot assist that would cancel Pilot assist if you get that you have to put your hands on the steering wheel? or Is this to allow the cameras to work above 25mph ?

315 DRIVE AWAY INFORMATION
I believe this is for the Android version where the car would chime if the car in-front of you moves during a complete stop traffic or a traffic light

479 FRONT CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT
I believe this would be helpful when you come close to intersections where it's hard to see incoming traffic and you need to keep pulling forward to view it

483 DIGITAL VIDEO RECORDER
I know this might require extra components or something but Imagine this would allow us to use our current cameras as dashcams like Tesla (a person can dream right? lol)

500 DRIVER ALERT CONTROL
I'm not sure what is this, if you have any idea please let me know

504 TRAFFIC LIGHT ATTENTION
Didn't Volvo back in 2012-2013 released something to implement to help the drivers to get notified when a traffic light switches from red to green?

Thank you Smile

479 - I don't think that it works like this. You see, Rear cross traffic brakes for you in case of something. What happens if you drive and sees someone on the other lane next to you. Will it brake on the highway?

483 - i've seen a retroffit one on Audi that worked with the OEM display. Hopefully could work here

504 - also on Audi it shows in the driver display the Lights colors. Could be helpfull

208 - I have "Driver Distraction protection A" by default

I believe this is the system that alerts the driver if it detects inconsistent driving and suggests a place to stop for a break:

For all the rest I have "00 Unknown Value" as default, so I'm assuming these are new features introduced after MY 2018.

Tried 504 today. Ran a red light (a safe one don't worry) just to see if any info or braking is done. Nothing. Mine in MY2019 and still something is missing. Maybe newer ones, maybe AAOS

Oh noooo don't run red lights LOL

I'm not sure if this is for old or newer Volvo's but I think it's to notify the driver when the light turns from red to green and they didn't move, similar to What Mercedes have

CTA will alert if for example you’re parked between 2 cars and need to reverse out without being able to see. It’ll tell you about pedestrians or vehicles. this is factory on my vehicle, I’ll be honest I haven’t tried to proceed upon alert because I don’t really want to ‘test’ whether it’ll stop me colliding.
CTA does have hardware dependencies e.g. radar. Now whether a car that has these already fitted also has them at the front (suspect yes due to potential collision warnings I sometimes get) I don’t know. I guess we can enable this and see, should be fairly simple to test reversing into a car park space and having the car in drive ready to pull out with cars approaching left / right.
I’m happy to Guinea pig on this one, but won’t be until Monday.

I don't know if you know but Germany has very few places where there are no street sign, where you have to give right of way...because they are all in MY VILLAGE! The comunity asked for signs and they gave us a street light. 1!!! Right in the middle. Visibility everywhere, no cars, so it was safe ?

CTA will stop you. Pedal to the floor. Happend to me many times, I couldn't find the pedal, even I can't press it so low!
Once I backed quite a lot close to home do to road work, around 100m on a straight road and quite fast. There was a car going where I was coming from and he did overtook me but my car tought I would hit and fully braked again. So, unless the system knows exactly how to work it, maybe ON only in 1st gear or smth then yes. The problem is that I couldn't find any info on any Volvo with front CTA. Maybe there is a reason as to why Volvo didn't fully implemented it
Also they use the BLIS sensor in the bumper. I don't think we have something like this in the front, only camera

What do you have for 323 rear emergency braking? I think that’s what stops you, not the CTA.

323 - 01 Without Breaking
Even if it was With Breaking wouldn't meam anything. That is done through BLIS sensors which in front we don't have
Toyota's FCTA is done through the front parking sensor, BMW has "additional Radar Sensor in the front bumper", Audi uses a combination of ACC radars, camera and Lasers (on high end).
I will still want to try tho but its not looking good for us. Also there is no mention on this anywhere for Volvo

I been trying to figure if the rear collision prevention can be disabled for some time! Turning off the cross traffic warning in Sensus does not disable the cross traffic collision prevention. And there are tons of opportunites for false alerts in my normal driving, and it's annoying when it SLAMS the brakes ha. So now I've been conditioned to avoid the false alerts...let every pedestrian and car near me clear before backing out.

The 152 I have BLIS with CTA there is no setting there.

On 153 I am currently trying "04...with warning" from "...03 warning and mitigation" but I don't think this is it...we don't know the "internal" names of these systems that Volvo uses, but I believe this is the feature that, when a car comes up fast behind you, and Volvo thinks it may hit you, it warns and engages the brakes (depending on setting). I've had that activate once.

So I am not sure there is any setting at all that disables just the rear CTA collision prevention but not the warning.

My 323 setting is original, 01 Without, so don't know what that is...
