ASDM Calibration/ code U112500
#1
Hey everyone,
Looking for some help/advice on a 2016 Volvo XC90 T6 Momentum (SPA platform) with 360 camera / Pilot Assist issues after water intrusion under the passenger seat area.
Background:
  • Water got under the passenger carpet area where the WAM (Wide Angle Vision Module / 360 camera module) sits.
  • Initially I lost the 360 camera completely.
  • Various other modules/functions acted up temporarily (windows, etc.) but most recovered after drying things out.
  • The camera system never came back.
Original module part number:
31471507 (GBV7A)
I purchased a used matching module with the exact same part number and installed it.
Current status after replacement:
  • OrBit and XTool now communicate with ASDM/WAM again.
  • Network topology now shows WAM online.
  • I can run ASDM calibration procedures.
  • ASDM calibration reports:
    “Calibration complete – drive vehicle until safety systems re-enable.”
However:
  • The 360/rear camera image is still black / no camera display.
  • Pilot Assist still unavailable.
  • I still get intermittent:
    U112500 – Interrupted Communication with WAM
Additional ASDM codes:
  • C100154 – Vision System Camera Missing Calibration
  • C1A6754 – Forward Looking Sensor Missing Calibration
  • C1A6778 – Forward Looking Sensor Alignment Incorrect
Things already done:
  • Cleaned all connectors with CRC electronic cleaner
  • Dried passenger floor area
  • Verified power/communication came back
  • Cleared DTCs multiple times
  • Ran OrBit calibration procedures successfully
  • Battery support at 14V during procedures
Questions:
  1. Does a used WAM module on SPA Volvos require VIDA software download/flash even if the part number matches exactly?
  2. Is the OrBit ASDM calibration enough, or does VIDA need to perform camera/WAM initialization?
  3. Does the system require an extended drive cycle before the camera image returns?
  4. Has anyone had the camera remain black even though WAM communication came back online?
  5. Could this still be a MOST/coax/camera feed issue rather than module programming?
Any advice from someone who has swapped a WAM module successfully on SPA XC90/S90/V90/XC60 would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

1. Used WAM is plug and play, no software needed. I replaced 7-8 modules on SPA platform, sometime with different PN, and still workimg
2. ASDM calibration is enough
3. No. After install WAM it should work
4. Only with bad camera, or cable, but in your case i don't think is all cameras bad
5. I don't think so
In your network topology, SODR SODL and WAM are red. After you clean connector all the modules are green, or only WAM?

Thank paunionutz, this is very helpful information.

After cleaning and drying the passenger footwell area, most safety functions actually came back online:

* BLIS
* Lane Keeping Aid
* Cross Traffic Alert
* Road Sign Information
* Distance Alert

The camera icon itself is still greyed out/inactive though and there is no rear or 360 camera image at all.

The replacement WAM immediately restored communication with ASDM/WAM and calibration procedures started working again.

Currently in topology:

* WAM is still red/intermittent
* SODL/SODR are also red

So now I am leaning toward either:

* damaged Ethernet wiring
* connector corrosion
* another module on the safety network affected by the water intrusion

I will inspect and clean all connectors and orange Ethernet wiring under the passenger seat and footwell area next.

Thanks again.

WAM, SODL, SODR has a square grey connector, an the floor under the fuse box. Check that connector for any corosion

Paunionutz, Thank you very much.

I think you were exactly right. I found the square grey connector under the passenger side fuse box area and it has visible blue/green corrosion on multiple pins from the water intrusion.

I’m going to clean both sides of the connector thoroughly and inspect the terminals more closely. The replacement WAM restored communication and most safety systems came back online, but the camera system itself is still unavailable/greyed out.

This connector may very well be the remaining issue.

Thanks a lot for pointing me in the right direction.

I'll keep you posted

Ben
