Need some serious help here!
#1
Hi Everyone;

So have a 2016 XC90 and got some issues here:

1. Can't read the cars computers with my Autel diagnostic tool even tried another one which have both worked before in the past?

2. Driver and passenger seat won't adjust.

3. On the dash "Service driver support system" & "City Safety" messages come up?

There was water in the passenger footwell hence I just replaced the WAM and fixed some corroded wires but I am at my wits end here trying to get this car up and running!?

Any help would be appreciated!

Did you replace the WAM (360 camera module) or the VCM?
First, check the resistance on the OBD port.  PIN 6 CAN_H and 14 CAN_L  You should read 60 ohms. If you read 120, most likely your VCM is faulty. Terminations are on VCM and CEM.
The SPA models have ethernet base diagnostics through VCM.  The traditional diagnostics tools like yours work on the CAN bus. So, the diagnostic tool must send diagnostic command to VCM first to enable the CAN bus.

Without the actual DTCs, there is not much we can help. Those messages are so generic but have nothing to with seat movement.  If your seat airbags were faulty you should see airbag light on dash.

Here is the wiring diagram. It's for S/V90 but other than some accessories, everything is the same as XC90 series.

Ok thank you for that and I checked the ohms and they read 60. I replaced the WAM. The seats I got working again as I cleaned up all the wires and eliminated the plug as it was just full of corrosion so had to do everything from scratch.

So the issue I have now is just 1 & 3 with not being able to connect and the "Service driver support system" & "City Safety". However I need to be able to scan the car first before I can proceed further...What do you suggest I try next?

Disconnect the VCM, (passenger side behind the carpet) Look for any faulty wires and corrosion.   As far as I know, some models have internal battery that might be the issue too.

So as you can see in these photos here I have a few questions on these wires?

1. I have an Orange with Green wire and White wire here but don't know where they go as when I lifted the carpet they weren't tied to anything and I am getting no ground either so I think they are an added option for something?

2. I got two white with green stripe wires coming from the passenger fuse box area but only 1 white with green stripe wire coming from the rear area so it's basically 2 to 1? Is one of them a ground?

3. You mentioned the VCM so I will look into that since it seems the Dash clock isn't working (GPS Update Automatically) so this could be a clue? I haven't even checked the Maps if it's showing correctly...

Usually the twisted wires are can bus, you can measure the resistance of the twisted ones. If you get 60 ohms, then you know.
Single wires can be power, relay, ground or LIN, measure the voltage for each while taking the ground from the car body.
One thing for sure, the car did not come out from factory like that.  You have the wiring diagram, check the CANbus, LIN body pages, the wires are color coded.
