Performance mode is working?

I found torque.logic on Instagram and besides that they are setting options with OrBit, they also claim power increase and setting more aggressive Polestar Engineered software. There is no proof for it, but people are paying for it anyway. Are they selling placebos or is there some truth behind it?

It's just throttle and gearbox mapping. Anybody who says otherwise misunderstands what they are setting. 
If your throttle input gives you 30% where it used to give 20% of course it's going to feel faster.

Performance Mode or Polestar?

Performance mode is for air suspension setups. Only Polestar relates to the gearbox / throttle and if you purchase via dealer then engine mapping. 
Polestar itself is very conservative, it's designed to fit without the emissions standards as declared for the vehicle. Hence if you get a 3rd party remap you'll realise much greater gains and pair that with the gearbox/throttle modes.
