wrong location XC90 MY16
#1
I have a problem with my GNSS location on my 2016 Volvo XC90 D5. Everything was working perfectly, but then, I think due to a mistake with vDash or Orbit, I ended up in Sweden even though I live in France and my Volvo is originally French and not imported. Since December 15, 2024, it's located in Sweden. I've tried everything: restoring the original vDash and Orbit settings, and restoring the IHU, but nothing works. However, when I go into Orbit, I can see the correct location in DID 9006, but not on my GPS screen. I don't know what mistake I might have made. Could you help me? Thank you in advance.

That's interesting.
I have the same problem it is not constantly wrong, but from time to time it wonders of or stays in funny places.
Last week it spent a large part at sea (even if it wasn't) and it has also been in Estonia a lot, when I live in Finland.
Booting (locking and waiting) sometimes helps, booting and re installing the app on my phone hasn't brought a clear solution either and I have just booked a time for checking what's wrong.
If someone else has had similar issues it would be interesting to hear what was wrong or what fixed the problem.

Bad VCM has this simptoms. You need a new VCM

Any chance there's a document or other description to change the module. Even the location would be great at this point.

Start with IHU hard reset.
New VCM will require VCM reload software installation with vida online.

If you are close to the border with Russia you are most likely seeing spillover GPS jamming. The Russians are very sloppy with their electronic warfare and aren't concerned if they interfere with GPS outside of their borders.

I have analyzed the situation quite a lot.
My phone and AA shows right position all the time.
IHU reset doesn't make any difference.
The car is dry inside.
Only anomaly slightly throwing me of VCM is that if I stop and and play with the seatbelt when the screen shows funny position, it might get to the right place ones the picture of the car from above disappear from the drivers screen.
Usually I would start by checking Antenna, Battery and Connectors. Those are the usual suspects.
Now we have an intermittent fault which isn't persistent and impossible to initiate. It is completely random.
I'm going for an update next week, let's see if it helps.
