XC90 – Completely deflate and refill air suspension with OrBit?
#1
Question
Hi everyone,

I have a 2017 Volvo XC90 with air suspension and I need to replace the air suspension compressor.

Before replacing the compressor, I would like to completely deflate the air suspension system, including both air reservoirs and all four air struts.

After installing the new compressor, I need to refill the system with an external nitrogen supply and would like to do the following:

Completely deflate both reservoirs and all four air struts.
Connect the external nitrogen supply.
Fill the air struts individually.
Fill the reservoirs afterwards.
Perform the air suspension calibration.

Volvo VIDA has a diagnostic procedure for deflating and filling the air springs and reservoir, but I would like to know whether the complete procedure can also be performed with OrBit.

I saw that newer OrBit versions mention an “Air Suspension Fill/Deflate” function, but I cannot find it or figure out how to access it.

Can anyone tell me where this function is located and whether OrBit allows me to individually control/deflate/fill all four air struts and both reservoirs?
If possible, I would really appreciate a short step-by-step explanation.

Thanks a lot!

Hi,
I’m having the same issue with the latest OrBit version, 1.3.7.8. I also can’t find the newly added dialog for deflating/inflating the air suspension system.
I want to use this function to check the system and, if necessary, replace the valve block and check one of the front suspension struts for leaks.
My car is a 2017 Volvo XC60.
Has anyone managed to find or access this function in OrBit 1.3.7.8?
Thanks!

Please install this version:

https://orbitfiles.blob.core.windows.net...review.exe

You will find the function in Service tab.

Did you finish your work with OrBit?

How was your experience?

Just to note: the link shared above is for a preview version - the feature is in the current version (previously was included in the preview), which we would recommend installing as the latest, stable version.

Thanks for the clarification.

Just to explain what happened on my side: I had already updated OrBit to what was shown to me as the latest version, but the Air Suspension Fill/Deflate function was not available in the Service tab.

Only after I contacted the SpayceTech/OrBit team directly, they sent me the preview-version link shown above. After installing that version, the function appeared and I was able to access it.

So at least in my case, the regular update did not initially provide the function. The preview version provided by the OrBit team solved the issue.

Has anyone here already actually used the Air Suspension Fill/Deflate function on an XC90?

I would be very interested to hear how the procedure went in practice, especially for a compressor replacement: which functions did you use to drain the air tank, how did you refill/pre-fill the system afterwards, and did everything work as expected?

If anyone has already performed the complete procedure with OrBit, a short step-by-step description of your experience would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again for the help!
