Close enough though, it does what it needs to do. Good to know some confirmation it works on 2018. Probably if it doesn't work for a 2018, time for a Total Upgrade!
I double-checked to be sure and, at least in my 2018, the button overrides Comfort and Individual, but not Eco (always on), Dynamic/Polestar (always off), or Off-Road (always off). Still, as you said, it does what it needs to do!

On 271 setting to 02 will not change anything, no button will appear. Using setting 03 "No button/No symbol, always off (HEV/PHEV/BEV)" I beleive does work for those cars, to disable S/S completely.
I had a MY23 XC40 B4 loaner and can confirm there’s no way I found to disable start/stop, be it on the Android IHU nor any physical buttons. I’m new to Volvos, but when stopped at a stoplight and a full 48V mild battery per the dash, the AC AND the cabin fan almost instantly stopped to barely anything. Isn’t partly the purpose of the 48V battery is to partially keep the cabin fan running when stopped at a traffic light?
If the 03 setting works to semi-permanently disable start/stop on ICE models with the android IHU, that could be a good selling point for Orbit. Start/stop is supposed to be disabled when Outside air temp is NOT within -4 to 30C, but we all know the OAT sensor has quite a bit of lag.
On the recharge PHEV models, start/stop is not even mentioned in the users manual, but my recollection is that ‘start/stop’ is disabled in performance, off-road and constant-awd modes (I could be wrong and will do some testing). I’d be happy to try the 03 setting to see if it does anything in hybrid mode, if you’d like?

Have you been able to try this out with setting 3? That would also be very interesting for me, as I really want to switch off the S/S of my new 2023 XC60 B4 completely.

It is pretty well tested, plenty of reports to me from customers setting Item 271 to 03 and disabling S/S on the mild hybrids.
