Snapdragon upgrade for P2
#1
Hi everyone,

it seems Polestar 2 drivers will be able to upgrade to the Snapdragon platform for about 1000€. Official Volvo dealers in Netherlands posted upgrade kits.

Anyone familiar with those IHUs know whether they fit in a Volvo with stock AAOS?

Have a V90 MY22 with AAOS and would love a faster Infotaiment system.

Probably, but i bet they won't sell you one for 995Euro.....

I'm wondering what they are doing with the old hardware!

It's sold separately, see this Polestar forum post: https://www.polestar-forum.com/threads/s...ost-330736

Installation manual is also linked, at least for the Polestar it looks like plug and play. If you can do a IHU reload that is.

The guy that did the P2 replacement posted photos of the new and old IHU and I did a bit of digging on bildelsbasen.se. The same unit (Part and hardware numbers) was used in Volvos too (XC60, V60) and the connectors seem to be same across models and years.

One difference I found is the single white connector (to left double connector in the photo). It's present in the new and old units on the P2. But on bildelsbasen it's missing for some models, including P2s. Anyone what the connector is for?

I mean if you try and buy a IHU outside of this specific upgrade program they won’t be selling you one for the same price.

IHU upgrades have been done before, reload with required certificates etc will always be the challenge.

Do you mean they won't sell this IHU? Or whether you can get a dealer to do the software reload (if it fits in the first place)?

As I understand it you can order this as replacement part from the dealer website online, it's not a trade-in program. I'd be tempted to order it, ordering the matching Snapdragon IHU for my car is way less exciting since replacement IHUs are around 2-3k. That's why I'm curious whether it would fit technically and reloading the IHU config in VIDA is supported.

Nobody but Volvo can answer this for you.

Polestar aren’t going to sell you one of these for your Volvo. It’ll be a dealer only fit. The upgrade will be a subsidised price vs what a standalone IHU will be.

Software reloads would require VIDA access. Your car might (will) be blocked if the hardware ID/part number doesn’t match. Therefore you won’t get the required software.

If you want to know how complicated it used to be, before it got shut down as a way: https://www.drive2.ru/l/600252810612705764/
