Collision avoidance jumping at shadows
#1
As the subject says, I've been fighting an annoying issue on my V60: the collision avoidance system likes to try and steer me away from collisions that aren't going to happen (and possibly into one it created by pushing me into the oncoming lane). It tends to happen on certain roads where there's little to no shoulder, and vegetation is very close to the road. Ironically, it seems to happen more at lower speeds than higher speeds.

I'd like to be able to disable this with Orbit. If this was a Sensus car, I wouldn't be posting this, because the option was available to be turned off in the driver assistance settings. But my V60 is a '24, which means that option (and many others) has been removed with AAOS.

Looking at the master list, I don't see an independent option for it, so I'm guessing it's wrapped up in 'collision mitigation front'. I would prefer not to disable the entire system, but if that's the only option to be rid of this dangerous 'feature', so be it. Is is possible to roll back to an older 'version' from the list, and if so, which version would lose the collision avoidance feature? Or am I missing a different option that only does what I want?

Thanks for any help here! I love my V60 (long live the wagon!), but wow Volvo's tech can drive me nuts some days.

It's not the  'collision mitigation front',
What you are describing is road runoff mitigation feature which I don't think it's possible to disable even on sensus cars.
You should take your car to the service and complaint about it. Your car should still be under warranty!

Well that's disappointing. Fortunately it's not doing it frequently, and it's got a pretty strong tell on when it's going to happen, so now that I'm aware of it, it's not as much of a surprise. That first time I swore something had broken in the car and it was going to take me into oncoming traffic.

I have very little confidence in my local Volvo dealer, unfortunately. Nothing else really seems wrong with the active safety systems (the automatic braking is about as dumb as it is on any modern car I've been in), so I don't think there's anything wrong with camera calibrations or anything like that. Next time it goes in for inspection I'll put it on the list, but I expect it's just something I'm going to have to live with.
