RE: BE ADVISED! VIDA detects any module replacement or addition! - IMAY2023 - 09-23-2024 I cannot comment on Android base OTA updates but SPA sensus has no problem. If you ever replace your IHU with a used one, then downloading new apps and updating maps and apps online won't be possible. But it is still possible to update the maps via USB. VOLVO checks the IHU part number and installed & available software and compares it to the VIN. If the IHU HW number does not match to VOLVO db, it won't let you download any software. RE: BE ADVISED! VIDA detects any module replacement or addition! - glennda5id - 10-30-2024 My SWM (Steering wheel module) is on the fritz and needs to be replaced. I would also like to add heat which requires a different SWM part number. If I purchase a used SWM am I going to run into these issues? Is it better just to purchase new and load the software with VIDA? RE: BE ADVISED! VIDA detects any module replacement or addition! - IMAY2023 - 10-30-2024 You can buy a used SWM with heated one and replace the steering wheel too. You might need to wire the positive and and ground though (Some builds are not pre-wired). Then you can enable the heated steering wheel. However, you most likely will need to recalibrate the SWM for that, you will need VIDA. Even you wouldn't need to recalibrate, next time you cannot the VIDA after replacing the SWM, VIDA will force you to reload SWM software before installing total upgrade. You don't need to perform total upgrade at all. Your car will continue to operate as it was before and many service centers don't even connect the VIDA and upgrade during periodic service although it's part of the regular maintenance officially. If you buy a brand new SWM, you will need VIDA to reload it right after the installation. You can also add heated steering wheel officially. The software reload costs are exactly the same regardless if SWM is a used one or not. So, basically it's up to you. RE: BE ADVISED! When you say recalibrate the SWM are you just referring to setting the config in CEM which can be done "unofficially" via Orbit or are you talking about some sort of other calibration. RE: BE ADVISED! VIDA detects any module replacement or addition! - IMAY2023 - 10-30-2024 No, the SWM has steering wheel position sensor inside. There is a SWM calibration routine with specific instructions and steps in VIDA. In most cases when replacing the SWM that routine is needed to be run for calibration. In some cases if you are really lucky, the used or new part would be in the dead center and installed on the dead center. BE ADVISED! VIDA detects any module replacement or addition! - Pau1ey - 12-12-2024 So let’s say I added the IMS to both of ours before this was known, and they’ve been connected to VIDA since and showed under the hardware tab. Are we not able to do Total Upgrades now without ordering the reload or remove software? Are either of those software options possible via Orbit without VIDA and paying Volvo? RE: BE ADVISED! VIDA detects any module replacement or addition! - IMAY2023 - 12-12-2024 First, let's clarify what is IMS reload and IMS remove. They are not actual software loaded on the IMS module. They are just configuration changes just like Orbit does. There is only one difference that purchasing IMS reload makes the configuration oficial by updating VOLVO database for your VIN number and IMS sensor = with becomes OEM config in Orbit. Ones the VIDA scans the car with the IMS retrofit, the HW changes becomes permanent because updates the VOLVO servers. I had VIDA subscription for 3 days and I did not know this. I disconnected the IMS and rescan the car with VIDA. HW changes were still there ( Remove IMS and reload IMS). I waited until the third and last day of the subscription, rescan the car and there was no change. I had to purchase IMS remove while IMS is still being disconnected before being able to run total upgrade. I purchased IMS remove for $40 USD because IMS reload was $250 USD. After total upgrade and VIDA disconnected, I reconnected the IMS module, and I used the Orbit to enable it. Everything works again. RE: BE ADVISED! My understanding is that with OrBit if you take it to the dealer and "Revert to OEM" before doing so, VIDA can still be used on the car by Volvo? I.e., if my Sensus based Volvo needs an update I can revert to OEM and take it to the dealer to get an update.(06-22-2024, 05:15 AM)paunionutz Wrote: Oh crap! I did so many modiffication to my car, that i tink will take me days to unplug all the modules, and plug it back, just for a diagnose. RE: BE ADVISED! VIDA detects any module replacement or addition! - paunionutz - 01-11-2025 I scaned at least 4 cars with orbit modifications (inclusiv mine), with Vida Online and i didn't find anything in hardware or software. So Vida onlline won't detect by it self modifications RE: BE ADVISED! VIDA detects any module replacement or addition! - IMAY2023 - 01-11-2025 Orbit modifications are not HW changes thus does not show under HW changes TAB. VIDA does not inform you if it detects unofficial configuration changes. VIDA will throw you an error " This CAR or VIN is blocked for software download" only if you try to reload a module or to install total upgrade" You may not see the error on the same day or during the same initial connection and read out but it's very likely that your cars are blocked for software purchase and download. |
