RE: Connectivity OUTSIDE home Country - sayokama - 04-18-2025

Hi everyone.
Interesting update.

Starting info:
XC40 2021 (Sensus) from the USA. Currently, in Europe.
I've contacted a local dealer in the USA to regenerate the Volvo ID for me, as I'm a new owner of a car. After a long conversation, they did it for me, but mentioned that the car connectivity will not work due to regional restriction and roaming.

In 2024, I've tried to connect the car to the VOC, but on a phase of pressing the "On Call" button — it didn't work as there was no connectivity.
But yesterday I noticed that the VOC app on mobile was updated. And currently, to connect a car — you don't need to press and hold the "On Call" button, but generate and scan a QR code.

So I was able to connect my car to the app successfully. But there was still no connection at this point. So I put my local SIM card into a car to see if that will work by any chance. And it did!

Unfortunately, my subscription expired now. However, I could see the car's statistics and GPS location at least. Flash headlights and honk. And could remotely check whether I've closed my windows or not.

I have XC40 2019 from USA in EU(Poland). I put sim card and i have albo car statistic, i see which door is open but i don't see actual position i can't flash light. I think it's problem with slow connection because i must long wait for refresh status in volvo cars app.

Might be worth a TCAM reset: https://www.volvocars.com/uk/support/topic/8705c9b3bb9754ccc0a801517358bc5a/

But of that vintage, probably running over 3G I suspect.

Hello, I'll describe a bit my problem and my fun, I have an xc40 icup from the USA and I got stuck, I tried to make a patent from Tesla, so I desoldered the esim, soldered the SIM card connector, but so what, the sauce doesn't work anyway, the sauce flashes red, no connection, so I got stuck in place, I'll write to everyone right away, don't get on with it if you don't have the equipment and some knowledge, because desoldering this module is quite heavy, you can damage the tracks There is a person here on the forum who does it, it is worth paying money and for someone to do it, I did not succeed, I do not know why it does not have a connection all the time. I can use the services of a friend and a microscope. I lacked knowledge.
