Illuminated rear door sills - Steffe - 07-28-2025
Hey there clever people!
Got me some illuminated sills for both front and rear, but was curious if anyone had seen any EWD for the rear ones? Or maybe even have done it already.
Front is officially retrofitable (once I get the y-cables, since these are used), but not sure about rear ones.
Mostly trying to get everything prepared before doing the actual work

Illuminated sills are only available for the 90 series. The front ones will fit the 60 series but not the rear ones as I recall. I still have them from my old car and planning to put them in my new car. Do you have a part number for the Y cable?

31435634 for the y-cable (front).
Yeah, it's a V90 I have, and the ones I got are from a (now scrapped) V90. So the part dealer can't recover the cables from that particular car unfortunately.

I just looked up the part but what a price for a Y cable: about 70 Euro / each. I think I have enough parts to make one myself.

Yeah, the price for them is insane (for what it is). Sadly the scrap yards doesn't seem to remove that cable either, at least not that I've seen in listings.
But yeah, front is the easy part, rear seems trickier

Did you check the rear in your car? Maybe the connector is already there.

I actually have not, no. Was hoping someone maybe had done it before, and could confirm
But I have to get the y-cables first for the front, rather do it all in one sweep (if possible)
Found some on Ali.. at a good price, but that seems to be for the older cars (P3-generation), with 3 pins.

What keeps you guys from just tapping into the wiring without an obscenely expensive cable? I know it won't look as good, but it can't be seen anyway...
I am also looking to retrofit on my XC60, but I don't even consider giving 2 x 70$ for just a couple of wires...
