Plugged in No Power after reverting to OEM - lbleung@gmail.com - 08-29-2024

2022 Polestar 2 Plus and Performance
Using Orbit since December 2023, activated pilot assist/ACC and pixel headlights with no issue. Have done a couple of OTAs since then no problem (but realized after one OTA that it you don't revert to OEM first the update might bork the propulsion system and regenerative braking, presumably because of the mismatch in ACC configuration).

Missed the last OTA (from 2.14 -> 3) because when I got the cloud notification I reverted to OEM on Orbit before applying the update and the notification went away. I finally made an appointment to get into the Volvo dealership to do the update in the shop. The software flash went fine but then when I went to plug in the car afterward (it wasn't plugged in during the software flashing) the car wouldn't charge. The light on the charging cable was still flashing white, so it didn't seem to be a cable fault. I toggled the charging schedule off and back on, and also tried using the 110V pigtail connector in a normal outlet. Same thing-- the car showed the yellow light and was stuck on "initializing charging" and the app showed "plugged in no power". The car did charge at a DCFC station at 50kw. Based on my preliminary experiments it seemed like it might be either a faulty charging cable or an onboard charger issue, because charging didn't work with multiple power outlets.

I brought it to the Volvo dealer for the scheduled service appointment for the software update and told them about the charging issue. Gave them my charging cable as well. When I checked the app last night (while the car was still at the dealership) the software had been updated and the car plugged in and fully charged--the app now also has the capability of setting the charge limit.

They told me today that they checked everything and there was no issue with the OBC or the cable. So I'm not sure what happened. Did flashing the software back to OEM have anything to do with the car's inability to charge, and did the new software update restore it? More importantly, can I reflash the previous mods (pixel and ACC/PA) without fear that this might happen again? Could the changes in the app charging protocol have had something to do with the breaking or restoration of the charging functions? Has this happened to anyone else?

TL; DR: using Orbit to revert to OEM may have borked my car's charger, and updating to the latest Polestar software may have restored it. Possible or just a coincidence?
