Show Everytinhg Checkbox - Synoptic - 07-27-2023

What is the purpose of this checkbox ? What makes an ID to be hidden when not checked ?

RE: Show Everytinhg Checkbox - Power6 - 07-27-2023

The list of items shown when the box is NOT checked, is rather arbitrary, and sort of a legacy holdover, from way back when there was no search ability of the config items in OrBit.

There are 300-something config items, many of them might require hardware changes in the car, and many you probably don't want to change them at all!

Filtering the items list for known config items, that you can tweak, that don't involve retrofitting equipment, was useful. I am not sure it has outlived it's usefulness yet, it's nice to have a list to browse of well known config items when you first start using OrBit. That list is arbitrary in that I chose the items on there, and I haven't reviewed them in a while.

When you want to see everything, of course, you can check the box to see everything ;-)

Oh ok ! What about repurposing that check box to show/hide the "Unknowns 00" item instead ?

What about resizing the list boxes to be able to read the full text ? Smile

Well you see the problem here haha, everybody got a different idea, maybe I will only get 50 different suggestions. I am still listening, even if I don't do anything about it just yet.

I do know seeing the entire description would help, you can work around it (you can resize the columns, even beyond the size of the view). But it's a known issue. Volvo too damn wordy!! Right now, revising the GUI interface is low priority, to be honest. Not that it doesn't matter, just that it's something I will have to come back around to when other functionality and features catches up to where I want it to be.

I do appreciate the feedbacks of course! Users are what should be driving the product, even though I got lots of my own ideas ;-)
