Heated windshield. - trasgu_driver - 10-17-2026

Folks, I’ve been looking into this for a while without much progress—maybe you can help.
My 2019 XC40 has purple-colored front washer nozzles, which caught my attention; I did some research and discovered that a heated windshield option exists. I dug deeper and found that, in the engine bay fuse box, slots 52 and 53 are designated for the heated windshield—but in my case, they’re empty; there are no fuses. I checked the electrical connection for the windshield and confirmed that there is wiring leading toward the cabin, though I lose track of it from there. I searched the forum and found that the wiper connections are wired as follows: Pin 1 (wiper) to Pin 75 on the CEM (Central Electronic Module), and Pin 2 (wiper) to ground. I enabled the feature using ORBIT, but now I’m getting this error message: "Windscreen heater control #2. General electrical failures.Circuit Short to ground or open" (B147214).

Why are the fuse slots empty? And if they connect the CEM to ground, what are those fuses for? I don’t understand…

Can anyone shed some light on this?
