Use care key as normal key? - Full Jank - 05-01-2026
On these forums I've seen configuration item 214 recommended as the setting to change in order to make the orange care key behave like a normal key. When using my care key, all of the profile settings are greyed out so I was hoping to change setting 214 to allow the care key to function as a normal key, however I do not see setting 214 in orbit. My understanding is that not all cars can use the orange key as a fully functional normal key and that if setting 214 isn't available it means my care key cannot function normally. Is my understanding correct?
The car is a 2018 XC60 T6 Inscription.

After reading the most recent release notes, I discovered that if you go into the key pairing screen, there is a section for advanced options that will disable the care key functionality. This worked successfully for me and now my orange key appears to work as a normal key. I thought about deleting my post but I figured I'd leave it up as a monument to my lack of reading comprehension in case anyone else runs into the same confusion.

i want to understand what this does, will it just disable care key for the whole car and let the orange key which is programmed as carekey to the car as normal key?

Do you mean the key pairing screen in orbit, I’ve got 2 keys but one is a carer key but want to make it so can change and make a profile

Short answer: yes.
I use an orange key as a normal key as it's easier to find..
