Help needed: VCM adaptation & CEM PIN extraction in Germany / Benelux - marcus22 - 03-04-2026

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for assistance with my 2018 Volvo V90 Cross Country (SPA platform). My VCM (connectivity module) is defective, and I have already sourced a used replacement unit (Part No. 31489809).
Since I need to adapt this used module to my car, I am looking for someone anywhere in Germany (or the Benelux area) who has the tools and experience to:
  1. Extract the 12-digit CEM PIN.
  2. Adapt/Register the used VCM using OrBit or similar software.
Vehicle Info:
  • Model: 2018 V90CC (Diesel)
  • VIN starts with:
    Code:
    YV1PZA8BCJ1......
I am willing to travel within Germany or to neighboring countries to get this done. If you can help or know a specialist/shop that offers this service, please let me know or send me a private message (PM).
Thanks in advance! Marcus

Hi
I have same problem.
Connectivity in VCM, LTE modem part broke in it.
Is it really possible to restore original functionality with a used VCM ?
If so would be interested in paying for that service.
I have a used VCM at hand.

/Magnus

You need PIN for VCM coding which cannot be bought as far as I know. It can only be extracted from hardware or caputred from VIDA logs...

PIN for VCM is possible to purchase, I did. So I did the BuB programming to get rid of the “VOC service required” message after getting this PIN.  But to re-code the used VCM to get your original VCM identity, in order for Volvo systems and app to work again, it is a question if anyone solved that?

Changing the VCM battery isn't always necessary. You can simply purchase a VCM PIN code and reset the counter first. I reset the counter and didn't change the battery. That was a year ago, and so far there have been no problems.

@markus22 - could you tell us, what exactly DTC are pointing to the decision that VCM is defective? Because now you have a lot of different answers which are probably off-topic.
BTW, as far I know, to reload or to program used VCM to be fully functional is not possible. It is possible to make a clone from the original, but using it with volvo app will be not possible because internal model IMEI and MAC addresses remain from used VCM, not bond to you car.

In my situation VCM gave these two codes, U105000 and U107604.
VOC backup battery was replaced 1 year before.
The VOC button nor SOS button worked, it left the VCM stuck in trying to get connected to mobile network.
