Shifter Knob Orrefors swap revival discussion - HugoRS10 - 01-28-2026
hey all,
New to the forum. Although I've been lurking in the background.
I see some older threads around shift knob swaps but I wanted to create my own thread to see if things have moved on since the 2023 conversations once had.
I have a 2022 T8 Recharge PHEV and I want to swap my R-Design Plus leather shift knob for the crystal Orrefors one.
I have orbit already and can make any confg changes if need be.
My question is, is this shit knob swapp I'm proposing simple and straight forward or is this not been done before? The other threads talk about a cable shifter swap with a drive by wire but I think these two shifters I'm referring to are "the same'

The replacement is possible, however it will be necessary to remove the logic board from the current knob and replace it with the board from the crystal knob, representing a complete hardware replacement.
If you wish the crystal knob to be illuminated, you will need to adapt a 12V power supply from the board to the LED harness.

I did a 1-1 direct replacement on my 2018 XC40 T4.
Works beautifully.

I have an XC60 MY2020, and i just swapped, worked fine.
Noted that the picture You are showing seems to be the old model, there is a newer version where the glass is wider.

Which one was factory fitted to your Volvo (have you got a photo or part number) and with what part number did you replace it with? Did it work straight away or did it need configuring through Orbit? And what about the lighting? Did it work or did it need tapping to a switched 12v power? I may be wrong but I believe that the 2 crystal knobs are not interchangeable.
