Hybrid Battery replacement T8 Recharge - erikssoneee - 11-13-2025 Hello, My V60 T8 Recharge recently got diagnosed with a bad cell/module inside of the hybrid battery pack. The quote from volvo to fix this is quite harrowing at 5000€ ish. I wanted to see if any sort of DIY would be possible and if so what route to take. I concidered buying a working battery from a scrapyard/wrecker here in Sweden or in Norway, There seem to be quite a few to pick from. Could I get a battery with the same part.no in working condition and swap my BECM into it? would that be plug/play or would I need to do any other work to get it working? Alternatively Load the software on to the BECM in that 2nd hand batterypack, or would I need a new BECM from volvo anyway? If those are not an option could I swap the bad module in my pack for a good one out of another pack? If so, would I be okay verifying the battery voltages across all of the modules only using common meassuring tools such as a multimeter? I guess I'm looking for any sort of knowledge or advice on the matter! All help is highly appreciated! ? RE: Hybrid Battery replacement T8 Recharge - Steffe - 11-14-2025 It's not covered under the recall Volvo sent out a while ago? Guess the shop already checked that though. Guess the shop already checked that though. What they said is that the battery warranty lasts until 162.000km and my car has done 167.000km So I was not under any coverage apparently... Do you have any more info on this recall? //eriksson RE: Hybrid Battery replacement T8 Recharge - Steffe - 11-16-2025 https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls?nhtsaId=25V179000#recalls480 But seems to be more about a potential fire hazard than single dying cells :/ RE: Hybrid Battery replacement T8 Recharge - daan256 - 11-29-2025 I can confirm that this has been done on my 2015 XC90 T8. I am currently running a hybrid battery from a 2021 XC90. The previous owner performed the swap. The original hybrid battery had a smaller usable capacity. After the swap, the car initially refused to start because the Volvo software still expected the old (smaller) battery configuration. A Volvo specialist updated the software using VIDA, and after that the car started normally. The State of Health (SOH) of the replacement battery is 100% — so in practice I now have a nearly new battery. It came from a damaged 2021 XC90 with only about 20,000 km on it. So yes, it can be done. But you will likely need someone with VIDA access, as a software update or parameter adjustment may be required. [color=#ffffff]If you can arrange that, it might be worth trying. RE: Hybrid Battery replacement T8 Recharge - Steffe - 11-29-2025 I've heard of swaps to the middle size, like you've done. Sadly not to the biggest one as it apparently has a different physical size. But nice to know it's doable
