Both of my old seats were memory seats (M1 and M2 in door panel, driver and passenger) and I believe had the same number of wires as the new ones before I did the swap (but hard to confirm). When I look at photos of the seat control modules online it does appear that they have a different number of pins. So who knows..... At this point I'll probably try to download VIDA and download the appropriate software. Might happen in April. Thank you so much for your help, and if anyone else has tips please let me know! RE: Seat Retrofit -- New Module is throwing codes - dalbreez - 04-17-2025 I finally got around to this. Interestingly, when I loaded VIDA it said the same hardware changes that the dealer was seeing: TRM Remove IMS Remove PSMD Reload PSMR Reload I tried the TRM Remove, it worked and then I realized wait wtf why did I do this, my OEM towhook that came with the car no longer works! So I refreshed VIDA and then the 4/7 and 13 ppl app popped up. Sigh. Anyways, these installed fine but I spend $150 uninstalling and reinstalling. As you predicted, PSMD and PSMR did not work. Error pops up saying the software is not compatible. From here, I have one of two options — either I find the old modules, put them in & lose the function of the chairs to update the vehicle, or I simply forego updating the vehicle. Feeling frustrated with the process. Would have never swapped the seats had I known this would be the case. RE: Seat Retrofit -- New Module is throwing codes - IMAY2023 - 04-20-2025 If you still have your old seat controllers. You can try this.

Sadly, the old control modules are are gone. Welp. I contacted them and everything but no dice. I'm either going to have to just suck it up with no more updates (last one was in November 2023 -- seems like I've missed out on the window updates) or ill have to change cars. Too bad I've lost my VIDA access -- I've found a nice volvo nearby and I have the VIN but no longer have VIDA, so I cant see the list of options it came with. One of the most neat VIDA features I have to say! My car is Volvo S60 2024 USA. I’ve replaced two front seats. I had standard seats but then I installed two seats with knee support. Iэму also replaced two units - PSMD and PSMP. The seats work, the knee support also works. I also have used AUD and WAM modules installed. I want to buy a subscription to Vida Online and do the Global Update. As far as I understood from the information on the forum, I need to Reload the AUD and WAM modules. After that I should install my original PSMD and PSMP modules back and then do the Global Update. You also wrote that it is possible to change the car configuration for $1, isn’t it? Can I install the PSMD and PSMP modules that are designed for seats with knee support, make an official configuration change? So that in the future, during subsequent Global Updates, I do not need to swap the PSMD and PSMP modules.
Can I Reload the AUD and WAM modules and then change the car configuration, so that the server has information that I have seats with knee support installed? Can I install the PSMD and PSMP modules from the seats with knee support (if necessary, Reload them) and then do the Global Update? Will the information about my configuration be saved on the Volvo servers? Or will Reloading the PSMD and PSMP modules download the software that was intended for me according to my VIN number when the car was manufactured?
RE: Seat Retrofit -- New Module is throwing codes - IMAY2023 - 06-22-2025 First let's clarify two things! 1) Software configuration change via Orbit or VDASH or something else. You MUST revert back any software configuration change before connecting the car to VIDA. Otherwise, the CAR's VIN number will be blocked by VOLVO for any software download and not limited to any ECU reload after the replacement of a faulty one. 2) HW change such as ECU replacement or installing a module that did not came from factory such as IMS, AUD, IHU WAM. This does not block the VIN of the car. On the contrary, VIDA detects all the HW changes and forces all replaced modules to be reloaded before allowing total upgrade. For the WAM and AUD. It's realy case by case depending on the replacement part number and the VIN of the car. Since your car did not came with those modules, VIDA would detect those as HW changes and will force you to reload them. You can purchase the AUD and WAM reload and try to install them but there is no guarantees that VIDA would actually install. It might give you an error message saying that "This software and HW is not computable with your VIN" The risk is that, it will give you this error message only after purchasing and retrieving the reload software. If it does not install due to that error, you can ask for refund and in most cases, VOLVO VIDA team issues your refund within 24 hours. (weekdays). If somehow it installs the WAM and AUD, it will also enable the related configurations such as 360 view, and audio type. If it does not install, you will need to remove the WAM module, install your original AUD back and the install configuration change. This way, VIDA would clear any detected and recorded config HW change and let you to perform total upgrade. My advise, First, remove WAM. (disconnect the power), install your original AUD or disconnect the new one if you do not have the original and then try below steps for the seat controller. Once you clear the seat controller HW change after following the steps, run the total upgrade. Below trick usually works because the seat controllers have many different interchangeable variants between the models and years and many of those variants supports common options unlike AUD or WAM which have total different options. For the seat controllers only! You can try this.

I would like to clarify my question. My car (during production at the factory) already had AUD and WAM units installed but they were damaged during the flood, so I replaced them. I installed similar units (with the same number) but I don't know which car they are from, S60 or XC90, I have no information. Music and 360 cameras are work in my car. I would just like to reload them and get the Global Update. Do I need to connect them one by one to do the reload or can I leave these two modules connected at once?
As far as I understand, I need to:
-return the original PSMD PSMP modules.
-return the factory configuration via Orbit,
-connect Vida, reload the two replaced modules. -
do a configuration test (Can you explain me what this test is and what it does? I couldn't find any details about this anywhere)
-Without disconnecting Vida and without turning off the car, install new PSMD PSMP modules and then download the configuration test
-Will the system download new data from my units to Volvo servers?
-Do the Global Update
If everything goes well, can I continue to do updates with new PSMD PSMP modules or will I need to install the original modules each time? (I would like to sell them).
Did I understand the algorithm of actions correctly?
Please explain why the configuration test should I do and where can I find it in Vida.
Thanks for your help
RE: Seat Retrofit -- New Module is throwing codes - IMAY2023 - 06-24-2025 Quote:Do I need to connect them one by one to do the reload or can I leave these two modules connected at once? You can have them both connected. If the replacement units have the same HW number, there is a chance that VIDA would not show them in the HW changes TAB. If it detects, you can order and install them one after another. The order does not matter. What you need to do is. Restore all config to OEM from Orbit 1) Connect the original PSMD and PSMP to the seats. 2) Connect the VIDA and do a readout. 3) Check the HW changes TAB under the Software Installation main PAGE. If you see the AUD or WAM or both. Since you put the original PSMD and PSMP, they should not show up there. 4) Order and install AUD and WAM if they show up in the HW changes TAB. 5) Order and install total upgrade. 6) Perform fresh readout from VIDA. 7) Order Configuration change and retrieve but do not hit on install yet. 8) Replace the PSMD and PSMP with the new ones. While VIDA is connected and ready to install the configuration change. 9) Click on install the configuration change. 10) Do a fresh reload, at this point, VIDA should not show the PSMD and PSMP under HW changes. If they do appear, this means VOLVO has changed the logic. You will need to put the original PSMD and PSMP back and reorder and reinstall the configuration change So that, VIDA removes the detected HW changes from the VOLVO servers. Configuration change app, scan the car for any equipment and software config changes and reports back to VOLVO servers updating their systems. |
