Poor PA behavior - danthe88 - 10-24-2026 Hi guys, on my MY 2019 XC60 T6 Inscription, I have PA from the factory. However, PA is behaving very badly, can't even hold in the center; on small curves, it just goes over the line, making usage very dangerous. Lane keeping assist detects the line extremely well, but when using PA it just misbehaves. I have tried recalibrating the cameras from Orbit, but I am not sure if it is just for 360 cameras or also for PA. I don't know what else to do; this option is very useful for me, but constantly having to think if it will go over the lane is awful. Did anybody have a similar experience? Is it possible to solve it somehow? P.S. The car is 100% maintained properly; no DTCs related to any of those systems used. RE: Poor PA behavior - Steffe - 10-25-2026 It's not made for sharp-ish curves, it's mostly meant to maintain a decent comfort on highways / bigger country roads (it's not a self-driving mode). And it does likes to keep a bit towards the edge of the road rather than to the middle, to stay away from opposing traffic. It did feel worse for a while right after changing my windscreen, but since the system self adapts, it has gotten somewhat better than it was right after the swap. These are my experiences at least, so it can vary of course. It's not smooth, it ping pongs between lanes, and it loses its mind when the lines disappear even for a moment for an exit. I typically don't use it except on a straight highway for long stretches. It's so bad, they shouldn't even offer it as an option. The fact that it randomly shuts off without warning is dangerous as well. Not even a ping, beep, or heads up display notice. The behavior is the same on both of our Volvo's. 2021 XC90 Inscription T6 2022 S60 Inscription B5 with Polestar Upgrade Tune (early year with Sensus still) RE: Poor PA behavior - danthe88 - 10-25-2026 (10-25-2026, 08:00 AM)Steffe Wrote: It's not made for sharp-ish curves, it's mostly meant to maintain a decent comfort on highways / bigger country roads (it's not a self-driving mode). I recognize that the system is not designed for self-driving, yet on a brand-new highway it should at least remain between the lines, which it fails to do. My vehicle does the opposite, tending toward the center. @Entropy: Much like my situation, the system drifts across lanes during ping-pong even on straight highways. On ordinary roads with a slight curve requiring a two- or three-degree adjustment, I cannot predict whether it will steer or veer into oncoming traffic. Yet, some people claiming they are using water bottle on steering wheel and the car drives itself nicely. There is even videos on youtube. I believe there must be some software update that we are missing... RE: Poor PA behavior - Entropy - 10-25-2026 (10-25-2026, 04:44 PM)danthe88 Wrote:That’s not how it is advertised. My issue is that it doesn’t even do what you are describing well. It ping pongs even on straight roads. https://www.volvocars.com/us/support/topic/blt41391c03b9298080/ https://www.volvocars.com/us/shop/additionals/pilot-assist/ https://www.volvocars.com/us/support/topic/3dbb6473aa47d37dc0a8015175f7bdc6/ RE: Poor PA behavior - danthe88 - 10-25-2026 If only VIDA support existed in Europe… I now believe even more that the issue is software-related. It seems unlikely they would design such a poor system and accept it as adequate. RE: Poor PA behavior - Steffe - 10-25-2026 Yeah, if it's "ping-ponging" between the lines something seems wrong. My 2021 doesn't do that, it keeps pretty solid between lines. Bit worse on the country roads that has an exit / off-ramp, where it loves to try to follow the exit rather than the main road. Both cars it does it. 2021 is a bit worse, but just yesterday in my 2022 it lost its mind in clearly marked roads (highway), on a very slight curve and it fought me after I took control more forcibly. I turned it off because i had my wife in the car too. No need to fight her and the car at the same time when she is yelling we are going to die….. RE: Poor PA behavior - danthe88 - 10-25-2026 So the conclusion is that I am not alone in this, but still no solution RE: Poor PA behavior - jos - 10-26-2026 Can you guys share your software versions? |
