About a month ago remote start in Volvo Cars app stopped working.
When I click to remote start a car, spinner will appear and run for a long time.
Eventually it will fail without any error.

I've scanned for error codes, but there are none.
I've restarted VCM module using OrBit, nothing changed.
I've even changed SIM card.

Around the time this stopped working I've retrofitted alarm siren and interior alarm sensor (but I'm not sure if it's the exact same time this stopped working).

One thing I've noticed is that when I get into a car and start it, car doesn't have cellular reception.
It takes a minute for it to acquire it, as if modem was turned off while car was parked.

What could be the issue? What to try next?

Hey everyone,
I wanted to share my recent experience upgrading my interior rearview mirror and getting the Homelink system to work with my gate, in case anyone else is looking to do the same retrofit.
The Starting Point My car (V60 2020) originally came equipped with the standard manual-dimming interior mirror. Luckily, when I took it apart, I found that the wiring harness for the upgraded mirrors was already present and pre-wired from the factory.
Hardware & Software

New Part: I picked up an upgraded mirror with Auto-Dimming, Homelink, and Compass (Part # 32219072).

Coding: I used Orbit to update the car's configuration. I changed the mirror type to "Auto Dimm" and enabled Homelink using Homelink Setting 7.

The Homelink Pairing Struggle Getting the Homelink to actually trigger my gate was a bit of a journey. At first, I bought an RX-MULTI cloning device hoping it would easily clone the signal from my mirror, but it completely failed. The mirror just wouldn't communicate with it.

Wired the new 433Mhz relay module to my gate.

Paired one of the included remotes to the new relay.

Hi everyone,

I’ve put together a small interactive Volvo XC40 wiring-diagram explorer and thought it might be useful to share here.

 Screenshot 2026-08-11 020944.png (Size: 308.96 KB / Downloads: 49)

It lets you click components, connectors, wires, and pins; trace branches or full geometry; show wire colours; and follow ordered routes through connectors. It’s still a public preview, so I’d really appreciate feedback, especially if you find an incorrect pin, route, colour, or missing branch.

I should be transparent: I have limited coding experience, and this was built entirely with Codex. I hope it can still be useful for troubleshooting and understanding the XC40 wiring diagrams.
I built it mainly because I had to go from Peugeot/citroën/DS drawings which were fully interactive in Servicebox to PDF diagrams for my XC40, and I wanted something more interacttive for my projects.

Download / source page: https://github.com/igeorge39/XC40-Wiring-Explorer

Windows users only need to download and run the EXE, no Python or other installation is needed. Please read the README before sharing further, as the included wiring document has its own copyright/distribution notice.

Thanks, and I’d love to hear what people think.

Windows users only need to download and run the EXE, no Python or other installation is needed. Please read the README before sharing further, as the included wiring document has its own copyright/distribution notice.
Thanks, and I’d love to hear what people think.

Hello, new user here of Orbit and liking the capabilities it opens up for my 26 XC60 T8 Hybrid. I'm in the US and wanting to get the Auto-High Beam to remain active after each restart so long as I have turned the ring to engage it. However, after setting it to EU/RoW through the Orbit software and engaging the feature via the ring rotation, it is not indicating it is still engaged after I restart the car. I used the programming wizard for this config change and everything indicated it completed programming correctly. Can someone please give some feedback on this process? Maybe the visual indication on the dash panel is now irrelevant as I haven't tried it out yet after dark but thinking it is not setting the config like it should be. TIA.

Hi - I'm using OrBit with a Polestar 2 on the very latest version of its OTA software (5.1.17, which doesn't even appear on the manufacturer's software info page yet -- though it deployed OTA to the car two weeks ago). Shortly after that update, I was able to connect with OrBit and push some headlight configuration changes to the car. Today, though, I tried again as I wanted to change the version of adaptive that I had chosen. I was able to connect and get basic car info (e.g., battery SOH, 12V charge, and current config), but when I tried to push a change to the car I got a "VGM PIN incorrect" error repeatedly, and could not progress. I verified that OrBit is still set up with the same PINs as I had initially put in for the VIN. Anybody know what could be going wrong and anything I could do to fix it?

<UPDATE> I had been running OrBit continuously on the ancient laptop I use for this sole purpose. Closing the app and reopening it triggered a software update check. After installing the latest version of OrBit, everything worked.
